Jerv

Installing the beta. Jerv for iPhone is in open beta through TestFlight, Apple's beta programme. Install Apple's free TestFlight app from the App Store first, then open the Jerv beta link — it hands you to TestFlight, and Jerv installs from there. It needs iPhone running iOS 17 or later.

Three things are different from an App Store app. Updates arrive through TestFlight rather than the App Store. Each build stops working after ninety days, and TestFlight will offer you a newer one before that happens. And the Send Beta Feedback option — the one that appears when you screenshot — goes to Apple's console, which is read, but support@jerv.app is faster and you get an answer.

Android. Not yet. The app is built and running; the beta is not open. This page will say so when it is.

Where things are. Four tabs along the bottom: Map, Compete, Progress and You. Your trips, sync, offline maps and Settings — account, sign-in, export and delete included — are under You. Leaderboards, clubs and seasons are under Compete.

Email support@jerv.app. It is read by the person who wrote the app. If something is wrong, say which iPhone and which iOS version, and roughly when it happened — that is usually enough to find it.

My map is not filling in

Jerv needs location access to do anything at all. Check Settings → Jerv → Location: it should say While Using the App at minimum, and Precise must be on. Without Precise, iOS reports a position accurate to a few kilometres, which is not enough to know which street you were on.

It stopped filling in when my phone was in my pocket

Recording continues when the screen is off, but it needs Always location access, and Low Power Mode will cut location updates back sharply. iOS also asks you to confirm Always a second time, days after you first grant it — if you missed that prompt, the permission may have quietly dropped back.

The map is blank — not fog, just nothing

That means a custom map source is set and is not answering. In You → Offline maps, use Test this source: it will say whether the problem is the key, the address, or the zoom range. If it reports that the server returned something that is not an image, the address is a vector tile endpoint, which this app cannot draw. Clearing the source returns you to the standard map.

My trips are on my phone but not on the website or another device

Nothing syncs until you create an account and sync deliberately — there is no automatic upload. Until then everything lives on the device, which also means a phone lost before the first sync takes the map with it.

A trip scored lower than I expected

Scores weight effort: the same street is worth more on foot than on a bike, and more on a bike than on something with a motor. Squares you have already uncovered do not score again — the map is permanent, so a route you ride daily stops paying after the first time. New ground is the whole game.

I want my data, or I want my account gone

Both are in the app under Settings → Account → Your data. Export gives you everything held about your account in a file. Delete removes the account and everything attached to it from the server, permanently, with no waiting period and nothing to email anyone about.

Deleting the account leaves the map on your phone alone, on purpose. To remove that too, delete the app.

Subscriptions and refunds

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by us, and are managed in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; we cannot issue them, and we are not told when you cancel.

Privacy

What is collected, what is not, and what a privacy zone does and does not cover: the privacy page. It is worth reading if you care where your location goes — it names one thing that does not yet work the way it should.
